Velocity adaptation factor

How quickly the material responds when the printer changes speed. The program uses it to decide how long the transition between two speeds is.

How it works

When the nozzle goes from a slow section to a fast one, the pressure inside takes time to adjust. This number describes how quickly the material adapts: with a high value the transition can be short; with a low one the program stretches it so the flow doesn't become unstable.

It works together with a smoothing coefficient that isn't shown in the tab.

When to change it

  • For almost everything: 1, the value in every Bambu Lab profile.
  • Only if your filament's maker gives another value for Bambu Studio.

Watch out for

  • There's no test to calibrate it: changing it blindly can make transitions worse.
  • If you see bulges or gaps where the speed changes, check pressure advance first (Calibration menu).

What Bambu Studio says

This parameter reflects the speed at which a material transitions from one state to another. It, along with the smooth coefficient, determines the final length of the transition zone. A larger value: requires a shorter transition zone. A smaller value: requires a longer transition zone to avoid flow instability.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
