Filament › Cooling› Part cooling fanreduce_fan_stop_start_freq
Keep fan always on
With this on, the fan never stops: on long layers it stays at the minimum speed instead of stopping.
How it works
Without this option, the fan turns off on layers that take a long time, and starts again when a short layer comes. Those starts and stops are noisy and suddenly change how the part cools.
With it on, the fan always runs at least at the “Minimum fan speed”.
When to change it
- PLA: on (as in PLA Basic).
- Materials that crack with air, like ABS: it may be worth turning it off, so the fan doesn't blow on long layers.

| Off | The program's default |
Watch out for
- On with a high minimum, every layer gets a fair amount of air, whether it needs it or not.
