Forward layers
With conformal infill: how many layers in a row keep the zigzag in its normal direction before reversing it. Together with “Reverse layers” it forms a cycle: so many layers forward, so many reversed.
How it works
The conformal infill zigzag starts at one edge and ends at the other. If it always runs the same way, the joints stack on top of each other; reversing it every few layers spreads them out.
With 1 here and 1 in “Reverse layers”, the direction alternates every layer. With 0, it reverses from the very first layer.
When to change it
- You rarely need to touch it: by default it's 1 here and 0 in “Reverse layers”, which means no reversing.
- A long support arm that splits between layers: 1 here and 1 in “Reverse layers”, to alternate every layer.
- You want to reverse less often, for example every three layers: 3 here and 1 in “Reverse layers”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 1 | Defaultdefault |
| 3 | Three in a row before reversing |
Watch out for
- It only shows up when conformal infill is on.
- If “Reverse layers” is 0, it never reverses, no matter what you set here.

What Bambu Studio says
Number of consecutive layers that keep the forward zigzag. Together with Reverse layers this repeats: N forward, then M reversed. 0 means reverse from the first layer.
