Support ironing speed
How fast the nozzle moves while ironing the support interface. Slow smooths better; fast barely changes anything.
Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Enable ironing support interface” is on. See Enable ironing support interface.
How it works
Ironing means letting the hot nozzle melt the ridges on the surface. For that it needs time over each spot: at 30 mm/s it softens and smooths; at 90 it passes by too quickly.
It's the same as the top surface “Ironing speed”, applied to the top face of the support or the raft.
When to change it
- Most parts: the default 30 mm/s works well.
- A large interface (under the base of a lamp) that takes a long time to iron: 40–50, accepting a little less smoothness.
- If you get clogs or the plastic burns from sitting too long in the nozzle: don't go below 20.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 30 mm/s | Defaultdefault |
| 20 mm/s | Smoothest |
| 50 mm/s | Fast; smooths less |
Watch out for
- It only shows up with support interface ironing turned on.
- The example shows a 50 × 50 mm surface: on a support interface, the time depends on its size.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
