Initial layer acceleration
How hard the print head speeds up and brakes while printing the first layer. Very low, so the lines go down calmly and grip the plate well.
How it works
At 500 mm/s² (the default), every change of direction is slow and smooth: the line settles onto the plate without being tugged. That's twelve times less than the normal acceleration (6000), but since the first layer already prints slowly, you barely notice it in the print time.
When to change it
- Most parts: leave 500.
- A small part, or one with pointy corners, that comes loose on the first layer: lower to 300.
- A large, flat base (a tray or a desk organizer) on a clean plate that grips very well, when you want to save a few minutes: 1000.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 300 | Gentlest |
| 500 | Defaultdefault |
| 1000 | Faster; very grippy plates |
Watch out for
- A high value here is a common cause of first-layer corners lifting.
