Top interface spacing
The distance between the lines of the layer that touches the part. At 0 it's solid: the underside comes out better, but it sticks more. At 0.5 mm (the default) there's a small gap so it peels off.
How it works
A fully solid sheet supports the part perfectly, but if it's the same filament it fuses to it. Leaving half a millimeter between lines keeps the sheet nearly closed and reduces its grip, so it peels off without tearing anything.
With support filament (a special one that doesn't stick to the part's filament) there's no risk of fusing: then 0 is best, and it also lets you iron the interface.
When to change it
- Part and support in the same PLA: leave 0.5 mm, the default.
- You print with an AMS and use support or soluble filament for the interface: 0.
- The support under a plane's wing tears little bits off the part when you peel it: raise it to 0.7 mm.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.5 mm | Defaultdefault |
| 0 | With support filament; allows ironing |
| 0.7 mm | Peels off more easily |
Watch out for
- It's grayed out (disabled) if “Top interface layers” is 0.
- Above 0.6 mm, the part starts to sink between the lines.
