Max detour length
How much longer a travel move (a move without printing) is allowed to get by going around the wall. If the detour adds more than this, the nozzle goes straight and crosses. At 0 there's no limit.
How it works
Going around always has a cost: the travel move is longer. This value is the maximum extra length allowed, in millimeters or as a percentage of the straight move (50% means the detour can be up to 50% longer than going straight).
At 0 (the default) there's no limit and every detour is made. At 50 mm, a 40 mm straight move can become one of up to 90 mm going around; if the detour needed more, it goes straight.
When to change it
- A large base with lots of columns, or a grille with lots of holes, where the detours blow up the print time: set 30 or 50 mm.
- A PETG figurine with separate parts (ears, arms) where you'd rather it never crossed the wall, whatever it costs: leave it at 0.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0 | Default; no limitdefault |
| 50 | Detours of up to 50 mm extra |
| 50% | Detours up to half again as long as the straight move |
Watch out for
- It only shows up with “Avoid crossing wall” turned on.

What Bambu Studio says
Maximum detour distance for avoiding crossing wall. Don't detour if the detour distance is larger than this value. Detour length could be specified either as an absolute value or as percentage (for example 50%) of a direct travel path. Zero to disable
