Overhang speed, 25 to 50%
How fast wall lines go when they hang out between a quarter and half of their width. This is where real slowing down starts: lower means cleaner sloped faces.
Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Slow down for overhang” is on. See Slow down for overhang.
How it works
With 25 to 50% of the bead of plastic in the air, it still grips the layer below, but if it goes fast, the next pass pushes it before it cools. At 50 mm/s (the factory value) it has time to settle.
Between this range and the next one the speed changes smoothly: a line hanging 40% runs at about 38 mm/s with the factory values.
When to change it
- An owl or a figure with a rounded belly whose sloped faces come out rough: lower it to 30 mm/s.
- A faceted lamp or a part with lots of gentle slopes, where time matters: raise it to 80 mm/s.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 30 | Cleaner sloped faces |
| 50 | Defaultdefault |
| 80 | Faster; a bit rougher |
Watch out for
- 0 means “no slowdown”, not “stop”.
