Top surface speed

How fast the upper face is printed. Slower means more even lines and a smoother top; it's a single layer, so it costs little time.

How it works

The top surface is the other face you see. Since it's one layer per top, printing it slowly barely changes the total time and improves the finish quite a bit: the lines settle evenly and the monotonic pattern looks its best.

It runs at 200 mm/s from the factory, the same as the outer wall.

When to change it

  • A box with a large lid or a name plate, where the upper face is visible: lower it to 100–150 mm/s.
  • A part whose top isn't visible, like a bracket screwed under a table: you can raise it, but the savings are tiny.

200Defaultdefault
250Top that isn't visible

Watch out for

  • For a truly flat top, combine a low speed with ironing (an extra pass of the hot nozzle that smooths the top).
  • The top surface acceleration is also set separately, and it's lower.
